Lodestars

Lodestars Anthology 13: Mexico

“The important thing is to go out, open a way, get drunk on noise, people, colours. Mexico is celebrating a fiesta. And this fiesta, shot through with lightning and delirium, is the brilliant reverse to our silence and apathy, our reticence and gloom.”

Octavio Paz, The Labyrinth of Solitude

Lodestars has become a favourite at Pics & Ink.

Like many independent magazines it is a tangible thing. It’s thick, like a small novel, and printed on beautiful heavy paper stock that even smells good. All this is before we even get to the subject matter.

Lodestars describes itself as a magazine-meets-journal about place, travel and exploration. Issue 13 is dedicated to Mexico - a huge country full of colour of diversity, yet Lodestars somehow manages to take us there. We visit Mexico City and Puebla, the jungles of Chiapas, drink Tequila and experience the Day of the Dead, yet more than anything its the photography that captures you as you turn the pages.
