We are Pics & Ink - a new way of buying interesting and unusual magazines, the type most people can’t find in their local newsagent.
The internet is great, it means we can access pretty much anything from pretty much anywhere. Magazines have yet to benefit from this. We aren’t about reading magazines online because we really like the touch, smell and beauty of great paper.
So let us be your guide through the world of independent magazines. We’ll tell you about them, show you a few pages, then we will pack them up very carefully and post them to your door.
Jwrnal is about conversation, community, storytelling and sharing. Jwrnal exists online, in places and as of this year; in print.
Jwrnal #01 is a collaborative effort from over 40 makers and creatives with a simple aim to showcase the vibrant creative community in Wales today.
Within these 100 pages, you will find people, places, stories and conversations. These stories are told through photographs, products, postcards, processes, prints, scribbles, poems and recipes. The magazine is designed for the reader to discover parts of Wales they may not already know. Whether it be through makers of traditional crafts using age-old methods, through the eyes of photographers and explorers, by giving insight into one of Wales' oldest running Woollen Mills or recipe ideas from a local, community kitchen.
The aim is simple; it's to shout about and share what is going on within the valleys, the mountains and the rolling hills of Wales.
Other things from Jwrnal...
Jwrnal Presents is a series of talks and creative conversations from Wales held in intimate spaces. Next up, on Friday 25th January it's Stories over Supper, a collaborative evening between Jwrnal and pop-up supper club duo Tan a Mwg. There will be 5 courses and 4 guest speakers all themed around good, slow food and great conversation.
The Jwrnal newsletter is collection of cool stuff from Wales to your inbox every first Sunday of the month.
