We are Pics & Ink - a new way of buying interesting and unusual magazines, the type most people can’t find in their local newsagent.
The internet is great, it means we can access pretty much anything from pretty much anywhere. Magazines have yet to benefit from this. We aren’t about reading magazines online because we really like the touch, smell and beauty of great paper.
So let us be your guide through the world of independent magazines. We’ll tell you about them, show you a few pages, then we will pack them up very carefully and post them to your door.
Companionable and unstuffy, Slightly Foxed is more like a well-read friend than a literary magazine. Each quarter it offers of lively personal recommendations for books that have stood the test of time and have left their mark on the people who write about them. It’s an eclectic mix, and the contributors are an eclectic bunch too. Some of them are names you’ll have heard of, some not, but all write entertainingly. Every issue has specially commissioned cover artwork, and is illustrated with photpgraphs, line drawingsa and woodcuts within. The winter issue cover is Seren Bell’s ‘Winter Cockerel’.
Among the good things in the winter issue: Maggie Fergussondiscusses love and friendship with Rose Tremain • Laurie Graham prepares for a Fanny Cradock-style Christmas • Patrick Welland joins the British Council with Olivia Manning in her Levant Trilogy • Daisy Hay accepts Joyce Grenfell’s invitation • A. F. Harrold revisits Willoughby Chase with Joan Aiken • Henry Jeffreysfollows Roald Dahl to East Africa • Posy Fallowfield embraces TheDeath of the Heart with Elizabeth Bowen and much more . . .
