New Mountain Magazine 04
New Mountain Magazine is a biannual publication filled with stories of outdoor adventures. Whether that's hiking, skiing, camping, or just spending time in nature.
What grabbed us about this issue...
As usual there is an abundance of adventures in this issue but here are a few that we particularly enjoyed. 'The Kaçkar Traverse' is a journey taken by two cyclist through the mountainous regions of Kaçkar, Türkiye. We liked learning more about this region through the short stories of some of their standout moments from the journey, from the people they met to the challenges they faced. There is also a great interview with GRLSWIRL, a women founded skate collective built around the freedom of skateboarding. And we were excited to read the excerpts from Out There by Chris Burkard, which is a fun and helpful guide to outdoor photography and how to tell a story through your lens.
Who is New Mountain for?
New Mountain has a lot to offer, from photography that captures the spirit of adventure, to essays exploring the wide corners of the world and interviews that take a deeper look into the lives of those who call the outdoors their home. The writing has a creative and storybook feel to it which puts you right in the shoes of the adventurers so you can experience their journey with them. It feels more like a book than a magazine and is something to keep on your bookshelf and read slowly, chapter by chapter. It's for those who have an adventurous heart and enjoy exploring whether in the real world or through reading.
Type: Long-form, visual and story-led read.
