Pressing Matters

Pressing Matters Issue 35

Pressing Matters is a quarterly magazine celebrating modern printmaking. Each issue visits artists and studios doing incredible things. Discover about their work, their inspirations and why they do what they do.

What grabbed us about this issue?

The theme of this issue is "The Power of Print" and we certainly felt that when we were reading it. We were moved by Weon-Gean Ho and the power of her prints to evoke emotion, frame memories and build connections between people. And we were amazed by Anderson and Low's power to transport us to a fantasy world using their unusual printing technique. Each artist in this issue is deeply unique yet they all have a different kind of power in their work and it's exciting to find out what.

Who is Pressing Matters for?

For those who enjoy visually stimulating reads, Pressing Matters is a brilliant and unusual collection of art to browse at a slow pace. If you're interested in the more technical side of print making, the writing is detailed and insightful about the artistic process, but remains accessible and welcoming to those who might know nothing about the medium.

It feels like a warm and friendly read and there is a strong sense of community inside too. As well as featuring and celebrating a variety of print artists from all different backgrounds, they also invite their readers to get involved and submit their own work which is showcased at the end of the magazine. So if you want to make a print of your own, this magazine can give you both the inspiration, information and encouragement to get started.
