Serviette Issue 9
Serviette is a biannual magazine published in Canada that looks at food through a wide lens, weaving together food history, culture and design with stories that highlight our close connection with what we eat.
What grabbed us about this issue....
This issue looks at food and its relationship to peace and war. ‘Go to Town’ takes us to the back streets of Beirut to uncover family-run restaurants and a boozy breakfast stop that help shape the city’s character. For a longer read that reflects our changing climate, ‘Home Grown’ considers the environmental and political challenges facing Pakistan’s rice producers as demand for basmati continues to rise.
Who is Serviette for?
If you are drawn to food features with plenty of detail, Serviette is worth a look. Pieces vary in length and tend to include historical and cultural references that expand the story, so it is best enjoyed when you have a little more time to properly take in each feature.
