Summit Journal

Summit Journal Issue 325

Published twice per year in an oversized format, Summit Journal is devoted to capturing the soul of climbing through long-form tales of daring, connection, and commitment.

What grabbed us about this issue.....

This issue reflects on what continues to draw climbers back to mountains time and time again. We started with the longest piece, where mountaineer Michael Kennedy talks about his life and recent experience of parental grief following the loss of his son Hayden. Climber Steph Abegg provides a different perspective as she lives on the road, documenting in detail traditional climbing routes across western America and Canada to share with the climbing community.

Who is Summit for?

Summit Journal  is a reflective magazine of personal stories closely linked to the mountains. You don't need previous knowledge of climbing to appreciate each story, but you may find yourself wanting to learn more about the individuals featured after you've read about their lives. The long-form pieces would suit you if you like to take time with articles and perhaps revisit them before choosing the next piece to read.
