The Fence

The Fence Issue 28

The Fence is a London-based literary, cultural and satirical magazine billing itself as "the UK's only magazine." It's a mix of longer features, fiction, witty observations and some first-class satire.

What grabbed us about this issue...

This issue has a larger number of longer reads than usual. We were intrigued to learn more about nightclub entrepreneur Howard Spooner and his close encounters with some of London's shadier characters. Speaking to Clive Martin, Howard discusses how he was able to survive in an industry known for its connection to drugs and violence. For a short fun read head toEtc. for a set of equations created to help with the confusion of modern life.

Who is The Fence for?

This would suit you if you enjoy commentary on everyday British life, with a mix of humour and observation that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It leans towards a more casual, dip-in-and-out read, with shorter pieces alongside longer features that dwell on an idea a little more. One for when you want something that reflects on culture, media and the small details of modern life, often from an offbeat or unexpected angle.
