The Simple Things

PRE SALE The Simple Things Issue 173 November

HEARTY – Stormy day stew & waggy dog tales. Nature’s fireworks. Hot buttery rum. Colourful candles. Stir-up Sunday & the joy of jumpers. The tanner, the woolsmith & the weaver. Topsy-turvy pear cake. How to throw a pot. Making glutney. Life lessons from Pooh. Squash chilli nachos. Acorns in your pocket. Jolly girls & soil squads.

Hearty food has love embedded into it. Think slow stews to be shared, rich hot puddings and warming tipples. All on the menu for November. With the slide into darkness, it’s definitely a month that needs to be shown some love. If we were writing a gratitude list there would be plenty to include, whether your fireworks come from tree-turning colours or sparkling showers in the sky, the traditions we associate with late autumn are worth marking. And there’s something for all of us; dog walks or duvet days? Out gathering acorns or at home lighting candles? Making leaf art or baking on stir-up Sunday? November is what you make it.So, enjoy spending time with you and yours before the relentless socialising of December. And use it well – the quiet calm of preparations now will see you through the festivities and mid-winter. But if embracing the dark seems impossible, simply don a big jumper, curl up in a bed nook and escape into a much-loved book. We heart November.

PLEASE NOTE: Copies will be posted from Tuesday 20 October along with other items in the same order.
