Folklife

FOLKLIFE Volume 13

Published twice a year, Folklife is a slow-living magazine from Canada inspired by those who live close to the earth, with intention and creativity.

What grabbed us about this issue…

This issue takes the idea of building both literally and as a way of thinking about life. We particularly enjoyed a piece on a couple and their DIY journey repurposing an old sailboat. There's also a feature on building relationships whilst living remotely as a self-proclaimed 'swamp witch' that's worth a look. If you want to slow down, you might enjoy the poetry and short prose pieces that are woven throughout the issue.

Who's Folklife for?

There's a real sense of intention behind Folklife, made for those who find themselves drawn to quieter, more grounded ways of living. It reads more like a literary journal than a lifestyle magazine, with longer pieces that ask you to sit with an idea rather than scan and move on. This would suit you if you're looking for something that goes a little deeper, less surface inspiration and more genuine reflection. It's one to settle into with a warm drink when you want to spend some real time with the natural world.
