Folding Rock

Folding Rock 3: Undersong

Bold, playful and proudly Welsh, Folding Rock is published three times a year and flips the world of literary magazines on its head.

What we love about it...

Folding Rock offers an unpretentious space for writers to play with unconventional styles from essays and interviews, to fiction. We love how this mag is rooted in its mission: help put Wales and Welsh writing on the map and to support and develop new Welsh talent.

What's inside?

Despite its front cover, music itself is not necessarily the main event in this issue.

Instead, Folding Rock observes how music is intertwined with key moments and feelings in our lives. Rather than taking centre stage, it acts as an ‘Undersong’ that mirrors the ‘rich, lyrical, sonorous and evocative’ tone of Anglo-Welsh writing.

What we love about this issue is how music becomes a theme that writers visit to articulate a feeling or moment. Whether it’s the weight of expectations and moments of self-doubt, or a means of unity, security and celebration; music finds a way to underpin each chaotic moment life throws our way.
