Foyer

Foyer Issue 2

Foyer is a magazine of stories, fiction, essays and recipes from people of mixed, third culture and second-generation heritage.

What grabbed us about this issue...

Issue 2 takes home as its theme and uses the rooms of a house as its structure. We enjoyed how that simple organising idea gives very different kinds of writing a shared frame. The piece on hair oiling sits alongside floristry and video animation without any single thread dominating. A memoir about food and family carries a different weight to a photo essay about clothing and the issue holds both.

Who’s Foyer for?

Foyer is one for when you want writing that reflects experiences mainstream publishing tends to smooth over. Each issue brings together articles, fiction, memoir and illustration around a shared cultural focus. You can tell this is made by people who wanted to read something that didn’t exist yet. This would suit you if you’re drawn to personal writing that moves between cultures without treating that movement as the whole story. Think of it as a creative platform built around the richness of mixed heritage rather than its complications. It’s one to reach for when you want to feel genuinely seen by what you’re reading.

Type: Mixed-length, story-led read
