The Simple Things

PRE SALE The Simple Things Issue 153 March

MEND – BYO project party. Why we love a pie. Bare earth wisdom. How to patch things up. Tender tops & new shoots salads. Chai pancakes. Scrapheap sheds & lost gardens. Rhubarb tipple. Typewriter art. Spring flowers & wearing wellies. Magical eagles. Angela Harding draws spring. Tea-cup pin cushion.

There’s a wise saying that feels just right for early spring; ‘If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need’. The urge to get outdoors again, to grow things and notice nature in its miraculous annual rebirth, is often tempered by March’s unreliable weather – and that’s when we can turn to planning trips and learning something new, without feeling that spring is happening elsewhere. Pastimes come into their own now the essential dormancy of winter is behind us – mending and stitching, making art, baking a pie or building a shed. Gather friends to finish craft projects together or go foraging for tips, shoots and buds.
Whether you prefer sowing seeds or sewing clothes, this is a time to make the most of what we enjoy, to mend us and re-energise for the year to come. And this year, spring comes with pancakes!

Please note copies will be posted out from Monday 24 February. If your order includes other items these will be posted at the same time.
