Artists Responding To

Artists Responding To #9

Published quarterly, Artists Responding To is a contemporary art magazine showcasing artists whose work engages with social, political and environmental issues.

What grabbed us about this issue...

The Antony Gormley interview is the anchor. His Body Politic sculptures examine the tension between the need for refuge and the need to migrate. It's a conversation that earns the weight it's given. Sara Gregory's self-portraits documenting the menopause are also worth finding. Turning a private physical experience into a public artistic act takes a particular kind of courage and the work is stronger for it.

Who's Artists Responding To for?

Artists Responding To is one for when you want your art reading to feel purposeful. Each issue brings together new and established artists around a shared sense of urgency rather than a single theme. You can tell the editorial point of view is strong without being didactic. This would suit you if you're drawn to art that has something to say beyond the gallery wall. It's one to reach for when you want to be moved and provoked in equal measure.
