Left Cultures

Left Cultures #3

Left Cultures is the magazine that explores the political Left's cultural past within film, literature, music, art and poetry.

What grabbed us about this issue...

Issue 3 gathers 50 personal reflections on the moments and works that have inspired people on the left, each with its own commissioned illustration. We kept coming back to a piece on the Cable Street Mural in east London, which commemorates the community that stood up to fascist marchers in 1936. If you’re into music, you might enjoy the story of having a protest song banned by the BBC. There’s also a lovely tribute to life-saving librarians that’s worth a look if you’ve ever found refuge in your local library.

Who is Left Cultures for?

Left Cultures is for passionate and curious minded people who are keen to get involved in politics in an offline way. It's filled with personal stories that are unusual and interesting but all connected to themes of Leftist politics. Every story is accompanied by creative and expressive illustrations making it a visually stimulating read, as well as informative and eye-opening one. It's a great read to learn something new and to gather great stories to share with others.
