What grabbed us about this issue...
Looking for Luddites is Left Cultures’ first special edition, a mini book written and illustrated by John Hewitt. It tells the story of the Luddites, the 19th-century textile workers who fought back against the machines threatening their livelihoods, and shows a side of them that goes far beyond the familiar label. We kept coming back to John’s drawings of the places where their stories unfolded, as he revisited each site to capture how it looks today. It’s a lovely way to see past and present side by side, and worth a look if you enjoy local history with a personal touch.

Left Cultures is for passionate and curious minded people who are keen to get involved in politics in an offline way. It's filled with personal stories that are unusual and interesting but all connected to themes of Leftist politics. Every story is accompanied by creative and expressive illustrations making it a visually stimulating read, as well as informative and eye-opening one. It's a great read to learn something new and to gather great stories to share with others.
