New Philosopher

New Philosopher 31 Space

Published quarterly,New Philosopherexplores philosophical ideas from past and present thinkers on ways to live a happier, more fulfilling life.

What grabbed us about this issue…

Issue 31 explores space, from the vastness beyond our planet to the spaces we create online. We kept coming back to a piece on settling in space, which asks some big questions about whether humans are really ready to make a home beyond Earth. If you spend a lot of time online, you might enjoy the look at the ‘flatness’ of virtual life and what it means to exist in a digital world. There’s also a piece on time travel that’s worth a look if you enjoy a bit of mind-bending thinking.

Who's New Philosopher for?

Don't be put off by the title - New Philosopheris good for those new to philosophy as well as the more experienced. You can see the thinking that goes into each issue, with longer interviews sitting alongside shorter reads and visual infographics. The layout gives you room to breathe between each piece, so you can dip in and cherry-pick based on your interests. It's one to savour on a quiet afternoon, when you have the time to think a little more.
