New Philosopher 37 Body

Published quarterly,New Philosopherexplores philosophical ideas from past and present thinkers on ways to live a happier, more fulfilling life.

What grabbed us about this issue…

Issue 37 is all about the body, and how we’ve come to think of it in separate pieces rather than as a whole. Science tends to focus on what’s going on inside us, while philosophy looks after the mind, and this issue asks what we lose when we pull the two apart. We enjoyed the way it also turns to artists, whose work often reminds us that the body and mind are deeply connected. It’s worth a look if you’ve ever wondered where your mind ends and your body begins.

Who's New Philosopher for?

Don't be put off by the title - New Philosopheris good for those new to philosophy as well as the more experienced. You can see the thinking that goes into each issue, with longer interviews sitting alongside shorter reads and visual infographics. The layout gives you room to breathe between each piece, so you can dip in and cherry-pick based on your interests. It's one to savour on a quiet afternoon, when you have the time to think a little more.
