Ernest Journal is a lifestyle magazine for those with a sense of wonder, covering adventure, slow living and curious ideas.
What grabbed us about this issue...
Issue 7 has the immortal jellyfish and Prince Philip as a volcano god in the same issue. Ernest Journal treats both with equal seriousness, which tells you something useful about the magazine. We enjoyed the subterranean mail train feature alongside the more exotic subject matter. The Post Office Railway running beneath London for 76 years is the kind of overlooked infrastructure story that rewards the closer look. The extraordinary life of Sir Kenelm Digby rounds things out. A 17th-century privateer, diplomat and natural philosopher is exactly the kind of subject this magazine was made for.
Who’s Ernest Journal for?
Ernest Journal is one for when you want to feel genuinely curious about the world. Each issue gathers ideas from folklore, design, adventure and slow living without any single thread dominating. You can tell this is made by people who find the world endlessly interesting. This would suit you if you’re drawn to reading that sends you down unexpected paths. Think of it as a cabinet of curiosities in magazine form. It’s one to reach for when you want to learn something you didn’t know you wanted to know.
