Folding Rock

Folding Rock 5: Sustenance

Bold, playful and proudly Welsh,Folding Rock is published three times a year and takes a different approach to the traditional literary magazine.

What grabbed us about this issue…

This issue, Sustenance, turns its attention to food. We enjoyed a piece using food timestamps as a way for the writer to negotiate their feelings. If you're not squeamish there's a photo essay and interview with 'Eat Bitter' author Lydia Pang that you might enjoy. For a candid piece, we kept coming back to 'Protein' - an essay discussing body image and muscle.

Who’s Folding Rock for?

Folding Rock offers an open space for writers to experiment with form, from essays and interviews to fiction. You can tell it’s rooted in its aim to support and develop new Welsh talent, while giving space to a range of voices and styles. This would suit you if you’re interested in literary magazines and are open to discovering new writing. It’s one to dip into when you’re in the mood for something a little different.
