At The Table

At The Table Issue 2

At The Table is a British food magazine that takes the culture and stories behind what we eat as its subject.

What grabbed us about this issue...

The Elizabeth David piece is the standout. Few writers shaped British food culture more profoundly and her contribution here feels like a genuine occasion. Rachel Louise Brown's photography of London restaurants at closing time is also worth finding. It catches something about the atmosphere of a restaurant that food photography rarely goes near. Rachel Roddy's piece on northern British food and the cooking she discovered in Rome is worth a look too.

Who's At The Table for?

At The Table is one for when you want food writing that goes somewhere beyond the recipe. Each issue brings together journalism, photography and fiction around British food culture as a broader subject. Thread-bound with a matt Pantone cover, it has the feel of a book rather than a periodical. This would suit you if you're drawn to food as a cultural subject rather than a practical one. Think of it as a literary food journal with a strong sense of place. It's one to reach for when you want to read about food as much as cook it.
