Kinfolk

Kinfolk Issue 56

Kinfolk is a large format quarterly lifestyle journal from Denmark with an elegant design that blends features on home, work, style and culture.

What grabbed us about this issue...

Issue 56 is a love letter to California, looking at both the sun-soaked dream and the real place behind it. We kept coming back to a conversation with Betty Reid Soskin, who at 103 reflects on a century of Californian history through her own remarkable life. If you’re into architecture and craft, you might enjoy a tour of the Blunk House, the hand-built home of artist JB Blunk, which feels completely at one with the landscape around it. There’s also a visit to record producer Emile Haynie’s studio in Silver Lake, where he hosts community dinners, that’s worth a look if you love music and good food in equal measure.

Who is Kinfolk for?

This would suit you if you’re drawn to Kinfolk’s take on slow living, with its focus on community, creativity and considered design. It leans towards a slower, more reflective read, bringing together interviews, longer essays and quietly styled photography. One for when you want something calm and intentional, with an emphasis on how people live and create in different parts of the world.
