LOST Magazine

Lost Issue 9

LOST is a bilingual mag from Shanghai about self-discovery through travel with real stories, personal reflections and epiphanies of how immersing yourself in somewhere entirely foreign can challenge, change and teach you.

What grabbed us about this issue?

Issue 9 is full of quiet, personal travel stories about the people we meet along the way. We kept coming back to ‘The Tranquility of Nowhere’, in which Jin Xin meets a painter at a Buddhist temple in Bagan, Myanmar, who offers to teach her a technique called ‘Sun Bake’. If you enjoy reflective travel writing, you might like ‘Aftertaste’, a charming account of two friends visiting Mount Fuji just before the pandemic changed everything. There’s also George Brill’s farewell visit to the Batek community that’s worth a look if you’re drawn to stories of connection across cultures.
