New Humanist

New Humanist Winter 2023

First published in 1885, New Humanist is a quarterly magazine of ideas, science and culture.

What grabbed us about this issue…

This Winter 2023 issue explores the future of the family, as debates over traditional values meet rapid advances in reproductive technology. We kept coming back to a piece on Philip Larkin’s poem ‘This Be The Verse’, which was first published in New Humanist back in 1971, a lovely bit of history for the magazine. If you’re a fan of country music, you might also enjoy the feature on Dolly Parton.

Who's New Humanist for?

New Humanistis one for when you're seeking a bit more connection to the world around you. Think of it as a way to stay across the latest ideas in science, politics and culture, with articles that don't assume much prior knowledge. It's one to reach for when you have a bit of time to yourself - the crossword at the back is worth saving room for too!
