Errant Journal

Errant Journal Issue 9

Errant Journal is a political magazine from Amsterdam, using contemporary art, visual culture and critical theory to explore the world.

What grabbed us about this issue…

This issue is titled ‘Companions’, with a focus on countries that have experienced Russian imperial aggression. It’s largely essay based, spanning across time and geography. Locations explored include: the Caucasus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. We enjoyed how this issue plays with form, with certain features formatted so you can flip the magazine horizontally to read.

Who’s Errant Journalfor?

Errant Journalexists to challenge the idea that the world is transparent and easily explainable. It's not the easiest entry point, with an academic tone that rewards slow, focused reading. It's one to reach for when you're in the mood to think critically and sit with perspectives that aren't necessarily mainstream. Whether you dip into a specific essay or read it cover to cover, this one has a tendency to stay with you.
