The Simple Things

The Simple Things Issue 154 April

JAUNT – Rain gardens & sun glitter lakes. Baking buns from abroad. Tales of tea. Why we love an A-Z. Magical mallards. Which Bennet sister are you? Wild garlic gathering. Snail facts & slug myths. White choc cheesecake. Treasure hunts & country walks. Hand-dyed eggs & lucky charms. Cheer up a chore.

Can you resist the jaunty charms of this brood of ducklings strutting to the water’s edge? Spring is full of such uplifting sights, sounds and smells as new life emerges all around us. We too want to get out and about more. It’s a good time to plan a jaunt or two of our own; walking landscapes that call to us according to our mood, foraging wild garlic, following in literary footsteps (bonnets optional) or discovering curiosities on city backstreets or the river’s foreshore. And what’s nicer than at the end of a day’s pleasure-seeking but to come home to tea and homemade cakes, a jug of spring flowers on the table. Easter brings us our first long weekend of spring, definitely an excuse for celebration. Life is good. Spring is here.
