Swap shop brunch. Follow-your-nose trails. The joy of enough. Early signs of spring. Learning a lingo. Wild garlic quiche & champion pies. Seasonal spruce ups The art of mothering. Sunshine tacos & salmon scotch eggs. Grow your own brew. Forward-thinking clocks. First butterflies & cool badges.
Daffodils, birdsong, finishing work in daylight – the spring signifiers we hold dear see us through the mixed month of March. Right until the very end when the clocks, nature (and hopefully the weather) come together to trumpet the season proper. Already, though, we are restless, shrugging off winter with a change of clothes, spring cleaning the house or garden, exploring a new trail and perhaps acting on some of those plans and dreams nurtured at new year, which are only now taking root. Maybe it’s learning a language, finding the joy in enough or taking inspiration from a glimpse through the keyhole of others’ places and spaces. It’s a good time to peek into the mirror for a fresh look at you and what you want to say to the world; be it through a badge you wear, something proudly homemade or the food that you cook and share. Taking a moment for a curious survey of our own lives is often where we start to grow, thrive and blossom.
