The Simple Things

PRE SALE The Simple Things Issue 152 February

GLIMMER – Kitchen therapy. Wild love stories. Windswept walks & starry skies. Jam jar gardens. Snug pastimes & why we love a dressing gown. Wise words on grief. Appreciating libraries. Ginger & maple toddies. Crumble tart & coconut squares. A nice bit of brass. Nature diaries & cosy spots to sit. Places that feel like abroad. Clown eggs.

This year’s calendar has not graced this February with the exuberance of Lunar New Year or the flipping good fun of Pancake Day, so it’s become a month to find and make your own celebrations. Or instead, we could simply let this season linger longer and embrace its snug pleasures and pastimes – painting what’s in your home, starting a nature diary or making a sketchbook. What better time than the raw end of winter for finding your own glimmers that make you feel safe or calm. So, explore your senses in the kitchen and revel in that favourite cosy spot to sit. Our need to get outdoors offers glimmers too, starlight in the clear night skies or the way a bracing beach walk can make us feel so alive. And, of course, the return of the light brings the first signs of spring through nature’s love stories, emerging buds and bulbs and an urge to plant, sow and grow. This month’s celebrations are no less important for being quiet and personal.

PLEASE NOTE: Copies will be sent out from Monday 27 January.
