New Mountain Magazine

New Mountain Magazine 03

New to Pics and Ink New Mountain Magazine is a biannual publication filled with stories of outdoor adventures. Whether that's hiking, skiing, camping, or just spending time in nature.

What grabbed us about this issue...

In this issue of New Mountain Magazinethere are many adventures to get stuck into. We enjoyed the unexpected adventures of the the night climbers of Oxford who are keeping up the unspoken tradition of urban climbing in the historical city. Travelling further afield is the emotional story of Yao Miao, a woman who made it out of her small village in South West China by training hard to become a professional athlete. Or, if you want a shorter, more visual read, the illustration series "Tracking Icelandic Glaciers" made a fun change of pace, using comic strips to teach about Iceland's rapidly changing glaciers and the volunteers working to record the changes.

Who is New Mountain for?

New Mountain has a lot to offer, from photography that captures the spirit of adventure, to essays exploring the wide corners of the world and interviews that take a deeper look into the lives of those who call the outdoors their home. The writing has a creative and storybook feel to it which puts you right in the shoes of the adventurers so you can experience their journey with them. It feels more like a book than a magazine and is something to keep on your bookshelf and read slowly, chapter by chapter. It's for those who have an adventurous heart and enjoy exploring whether in the real world or through reading.
