Extra Teeth

Extra Teeth Issue 10

Published biannually, Extra Teeth champions new fiction and non-fiction writing from Scotland and beyond.

What grabbed us about this issue…

Issue 10 marks a redesign alongside the anniversary and the editorial range gives the new look something to work with immediately. The piece on living within Palestinian bodies and families is the one to find first. It’s a subject that demands the kind of careful literary attention Extra Teeth brings to it. We also enjoyed the reckoning with home as a concept alongside the more geographically specific pieces. A confrontation with a black man’s heaven gives the issue its most charged single phrase.

Who's Extra Teeth for?

Extra Teeth would suit you if you enjoy literature and are open to playful, experimental fiction. They celebrate 'words with bite', so the writing feels genuinely quirky - writers here push at styles you're unlikely to find in a traditional literary magazine. There's a real sense of craft to the object itself, with colourful design and custom illustration throughout. It's one to reach for when you want to read outside your comfort zone.
