Graves are frequently looted and the contents smuggled out of the country to European buyers prepared to pay high prices. The landscape of Yemen now reflects this trade, with mummies often discarded in the process of moving them across the border. The story of Oleksii Yukov, who recovered the bodies of enemy soldiers in Ukraine, stayed with us after reading his article.
