Direction of Travel Volume 3

"A love letter to the rich visual history of flying."

Direction of Travel is a newspaper about airline maps and the culture of flying. There's nothing from the internet, and all images and maps are photographs of physical maps collected or sourced by maker, Christian Nolle.

Volume 3: Above the Alps

This issue charts the evolution of two European airlines, Alitalia and Swissair. Inside, you'll find beautiful well-preserved vintage maps all the way back to 1948.

You'll also find some great essays diving into why we love a window seat, the old tradition of kids visiting the cockpit, all the airports the late Pope John Paul II blessed and the airport spectator balcony.
