Racquet

Racquet Issue No.28

Racquet is a quarterly magazine that explores the art, ideas, style, history and culture surrounding tennis.

What grabbed us about this issue…

Issue 28 is tied together by the blueprints and structures that sit at the foundations of tennis. If you’ve ever wondered about the origins of the game, there’s a niche but entertaining potted history of the iconic bright yellow tennis ball that you might enjoy. A standout for us was a surprising piece that looks at how tennis can be used to produce modern art. And if you’re based near (or visiting) London, you might be interested in a tour of the Barbican’s tennis court, where you can take in the game surrounded by brutalist architecture.

Who’s Racquet for?

This would suit you if you already have an interest in tennis and want to explore its wider cultural reach. Think of it as a way into the game beyond the court, with features that move between history, art, design and much more. It’s one to pick up when you’ve got a bit of time to yourself, perhaps after a game, when you want to stay connected to it in a different way.
