The Simple Things

PRE SALE The Simple Things Issue 171 September

GOLDEN – Relishing the small stuff & daily delights. Korean patchwork. Apple cider spritz. Invisible orchards. Peach & fig salad jars. A maker’s garden. Late summer swims. Mini milestone adventures. The bonus harvest. Hedge theatre & Regency balls. Coping with curveballs. Reasons to love a bog. Bayeux & other tapestries.

You can experience a golden moment anytime or anyplace but the month of September delivers them in spades. Literally, especially after this unnaturally long, hot summer, in the burnished palette of meadows and gardens. But also as golden gifts of the last slow sunrises and sunsets and that mellow, lingering feel before the season turns. There are harvest treasures too; hedgerows of juicy blackberries and elderberries, apples ripe for the picking, bright rosehips and rowan berries. These precious things, once bottled and jam-jarred on pantry shelves, bring back a taste of the golden hours of summer whenever we feel the need. If you get that new school year urge to embark on a project, take it outdoors while the warmer weather lasts; sketching with a picnic, a tick-as-you go exploring challenge or photographing wildlife. And remember to make a note of everyday enchantments too – much like that bramble jam on your toast in midwinter, these recollections will see you through any less golden times to come.

PLEASE NOTE: this is a pre sale item that will not be shipped until the 26th August along with any other items that you place in the same order.
