Faire

Faire Issue 2

Created in France by Ruth Ribeaucourt, Faire introduces the stories of creative people from around the world, inviting us into their studios and homes.

What grabbed us about this issue.....

Issue 2 opens with Domino Whisker, whose embroidery practice began as an act of care for her father during his Alzheimer’s diagnosis. We enjoyed how the story of finding a creative voice through difficult circumstances gives the issue its emotional anchor. La Maison du Pastel is also worth seeking out. The oldest pastel manufacturer in the world, run by the same family since 1865, is exactly the kind of maker Faire exists to document. Kingsley Walters rounds things out with a different kind of craft lineage. A Jamaican-born Londoner teaching leathercraft at the highest level brings a perspective the issue is richer for including.

Who is Faire  for?

If you are drawn to a creative life and like to take time with a leisurely read, Faire is worth a look. Each issue connects with artists, craftspeople, writers and photographers who describe their creative journeys, alongside generous photos often taken by founder Ruth. You can pick your favourites to enjoy one by one over a few days.
