Luncheon

LUNCHEON no. 19

Luncheon is a free spirited biannual magazine blending art, fashion and food.  Each issue is structured like a menu, with mini aperitifs and long lunch style conversations with artists, writers, photographers and chefs across all generations, sharing their views and insights on life, art and food.

What grabbed us about this issue…

This Spring/Summer issue is a lovely mix of art history, theatre and playful fashion. We kept coming back to ‘50 minutes’, a short play written especially for these pages by novelist Deborah Levy, which is worth a look if you enjoy her sharp, thoughtful writing. If you’re into fashion, you might enjoy ‘I want to be you’, a shoot starring Richard E. Grant with creative direction by Shona Heath. Art lovers will also find Snowdon’s portraits of painter Willem de Kooning a real treat.

Who’s Luncheon for?

Luncheon is one for when you want to slow down and savour a good conversation. Each issue is laid out like a menu, starting with short, snackable pieces before settling into long, unhurried conversations with artists, writers and chefs of all ages. There’s a real sense of curiosity running through it, with fashion photography and painting sitting comfortably alongside talk of food and life. It’s less a cookery magazine and more a celebration of the conversations that happen around the table, so this would suit you if you’re interested in art and fashion and enjoy the company of interesting people. Think of it as a long lunch in print, best enjoyed over a lazy weekend or kept close by for when you have an afternoon to yourself.
