Gutter

Gutter No. 26

Published twice a year, Gutter is an award-winning printed journal for exceptional new writing from contributors living in Scotland and around the world.

What grabbed us about this issue…

Issue 26 opens with fiction from Saltire Award-winning author Ely Percy and we enjoyed how her work sets a strong tone for the issue. The special showcase of poetry from the Indian Subcontinent is worth seeking out alongside it. Giving a regional tradition its own dedicated space within a Scottish literary journal is a generous editorial decision. If you’re interested in contemporary poetry from beyond the usual anglophone circuit, the interview with Sudeep Sen gives the showcase a useful anchor.

Who’s Gutter for?

Gutteris to reach for when you’re looking for a mix of traditional literary fiction, genre fiction, poetry, and personal essays in one sitting. It’s proudly Scottish, with diverse content and contributors. Not all pieces are conventional, it would suit you if you like to step out of your comfort zone and delve into the unexpected.
