Gutter

Gutter No. 27

Published twice a year, Gutter is an award-winning printed journal for exceptional new writing from contributors living in Scotland and around the world.

What grabbed us about this issue…

Issue 27 includes an excerpt from Kirsty Logan’s novel Now She Is Witch and we enjoyed how it sits alongside the shorter fiction around it. K. Patrick’s poetry is also worth seeking out. If you’re drawn to non-fiction that goes to difficult places, the meditations on grief give the issue some of its most quietly affecting moments. The interview with the Gutter team on print media and the making of a literary magazine rounds things out with a more self-reflective piece than most journals would think to include.

Who’s Gutter for?

Gutteris to reach for when you’re looking for a mix of traditional literary fiction, genre fiction, poetry, and personal essays in one sitting. It’s proudly Scottish, with diverse content and contributors. Not all pieces are conventional, it would suit you if you like to step out of your comfort zone and delve into the unexpected.
