Glory City Stories: Hamburg

Glory is a quarterly football magazine that shines a light on clubs and associations rarely making the sports headlines.

What grabbed us about this issue…

This issue is more like a pocket-sized Hamburg city guide seen through a football fan's lens, with places to stay, eat and drink to help you make the most of a trip. It's centred largely on HSV, with stories and photography that give a strong sense of the club and the city around it. If you're interested in the relationship between Hamburg and the UK, there's also a piece on the century-long footballing friendship between Altona 93 and Dulwich Hamlet FC that's worth a read.

Who’s Glory for?

Born out of frustration with mainstream English football,Glory is one for when you want to explore the game in its simplest forms without the glitz of the leading leagues. It's not the easiest entry point if you're new to football culture beyond the Premier League, with a focus on niche clubs and institutions in some unlikely destinations. This would suit you if you're drawn to the community side of the sport and enjoy reading about the places football quietly shapes.
