Glory is a quarterly football magazine that shines a light on clubs and associations rarely making the sports headlines.
What grabbed us about this issue…
This special edition takes us to Maine's only professional football club, Portland Hearts of Pine. Founded in 2023, this issue is a deep dive into a young, purpose-driven club still finding its feet. If you're coming to it fresh, there's a match rundown to bring you up to speed on how the season has unfolded. We kept coming back to the photography of Maine's national parks and the way it captures something of the state's character. If you're interested in the community side of the club, there's also a feature on Dana Ricker, known as the 'Queen of Hearts', and her morale-boosting megaphone that you might enjoy.
Who’s Glory for?
Born out of frustration with mainstream English football,Glory is one for when you want to explore the game in its simplest forms without the glitz of the leading leagues. It's not the easiest entry point if you're new to football culture beyond the Premier League, with a focus on niche clubs and institutions in some unlikely destinations. This would suit you if you're drawn to the community side of the sport and enjoy reading about the places football quietly shapes.
