Disegno

Disegno #37

Published quarterly, Disegno is an independent magazine dedicated to in-depth reporting on architecture, design and fashion.

What grabbed us about this issue...

Issue 37 opens with the history of Vietnamese typefaces and the complexities of printing Vietnamese text. We enjoyed how specific it gets. Typography history rarely ventures this far from Europe and it’s more revealing for it. If you’re interested in design and sustainability, the post-consumer aluminium feature is worth finding. It’s a bold plan rather than a speculative one. We also kept coming back to interspecies pet design. It sounds playful until you realise how seriously Disegno takes the question.

Who’s Disegno for?

Disegno is one for when you want design writing that treats the subject as a political and cultural force. Each issue moves between architecture, fashion and design without privileging one field over another. The writing is long-form and independent. This would suit you if you’re already engaged with design culture and want criticism that keeps pace with that thinking. Think of it as a quarterly journal of design ideas rather than a showcase. It’s one to reach for when you want to feel properly inside the debate.
