Disegno

Disegno Issue 39

Published quarterly, Disegno is an independent magazine dedicated to in-depth reporting on architecture, design and fashion.

What grabbed us about this issue...

Issue 39 has a strong thread of recovery and reclamation running through it. We enjoyed the journey to reclaim a forgotten designer. Disegno is well placed to make that kind of archival argument. If you’re interested in textile history, Aissa Dione’s feature on Senegal’s textile industry is worth finding. It brings a part of design history that rarely gets this kind of attention. We also kept coming back to design for childbirth. It asks something the discipline has been slow to ask of itself.

Who’s Disegno for?

Disegno is one for when you want design writing that treats the subject as a political and cultural force. Each issue moves between architecture, fashion and design without privileging one field over another. The writing is long-form and independent. This would suit you if you’re already engaged with design culture and want criticism that keeps pace with that thinking. Think of it as a quarterly journal of design ideas rather than a showcase. It’s one to reach for when you want to feel properly inside the debate.
