Pom Pom

Pompom Issue 34

pompom is a quarterly magazine for knitters and crocheters, with seasonal designs, patterns and instructions.

What grabbed us about this issue...

This autumn issue is a collaboration with artist and hand-dyer Ocean Rose, whose theme of 'Home' runs through a collection of cosy knits inspired by the places that make us feel safe. We kept coming back to the photography, as the models shot the patterns in their own homes during lockdown, which gives the issue a more personal and intimate feel. If you're into mending, you might enjoy Maya Skylark's tutorial for a pocket-sized repair kit. There's also a thoughtful piece from Elliot Maud on self-expression and belonging in the fibre community that's worth a look.

Who is pompom for?

If you are already a knitter or a crochet, pompom is a great magazine to own for inspiration and patterns for your next project. If you're picking up yarn for the first time, we'd recommend learning the basics first before jumping into one of these projects, but the patterns are clearly laid out and easy to follow when you're ready. We like how pompom encourages you to keep fibre crafts as an analogue hobby and alternative to looking for patterns online where you can easily get distracted by other things.
