Gutter

Gutter No. 29

Published twice a year, Gutter is an award-winning printed journal for exceptional new writing from contributors living in Scotland and around the world.

What grabbed us about this issue…

Issue 29 opens with fiction from Sarah Bernstein and we enjoyed how her prose sits alongside the more lyrical contributions from Daisy Lafarge and Thomas A. Clark. The interview with Rachel McCrum is worth seeking out. A poet and performer talking about the relationship between the written and the spoken word gives the issue a different kind of energy alongside the page-based work. If you’re interested in how creative non-fiction sits within a literary journal, Carrie Marshall’s essay is also worth finding.

Who’s Gutter for?

Gutteris to reach for when you’re looking for a mix of traditional literary fiction, genre fiction, poetry, and personal essays in one sitting. It’s proudly Scottish, with diverse content and contributors. Not all pieces are conventional, it would suit you if you like to step out of your comfort zone and delve into the unexpected.
